I'm instigating a reunion of as many Rock Bands as possible for a weekend event, the same weekend as Kanamaroo next year in 2009.
Currently I'm locating musos and band names from across the Wimmera over the last 50 Years.
I'm also searching for a small group to come on board with the same vision that I have to make this event happen.
It will be a free, non profit event and promoted as a family weekend of living history.
The reason I'm trying to get this of the ground, I used to be a member of the Wimmera Musos club 20 years ago. I can't play a note of music but I loved the local scene and used to video tape the bands, Chriso Concerts, Red Faces etc.
A short while ago I came across some musos I hadn't spoken to for many years. After some discussion and alot of thought this is what's happened. It would be fantastic to get as many bands back together for one last time. Many of these people are in the late 40 to 60 age bracket and not getting any younger. So before to many start disappearing I thought I better do something.
These bands have done so much for the Wimmera, attracting people to the area and basically worked for nothing. Now it's time to thank them and to also remember those who've gone.
This celebration has jumped from 25 Years to 50 Years of Rock in the Greater Wimmera as more history appears.
